History
The Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad

The standard gauge Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad was created  in 1901; the result of a consolidation of two former narrow gauge railroads: The Baltimore and Lehigh Railway Company and the York Southern Railroad Company.  Prior to this organizational milestone, however, there existed a fascinating history involving many narrow gauge predecessors...
